One of the only things better than receiving a great massage is giving a great massage. You can enjoy both with a learning holiday by the sea!

Massage Class - The Art of Massage, in Paris, France and on Ile de Re, FranceMy massage workshops on Ile de Re will enable you to:

  • Discover how massage can enrich your life on a daily basis.
  • Provide you with the confidence and skills to give wonderful massages to your friends and family.
  • Learn great techniques that you can safely and easily use without tiring your own body.
  • Benefit from the relaxing beauty of Ile de Ré.

An important part of learning how to massage is receiving, participants receive hours of massage over the course of the weekend!

After each class day you have time to discover the beauty of Ile de Ré. Explore beautiful beaches, bike trails, wetlands, pine forests, vineyards and charming villages.

I offer weekend workshops throughout the year. To insure the quality of your experience, the class size is limited to ten participants. For a minimum of four people, I can organize a workshop on demand.

The fee for the weekend is 400 euros per person, 750 per couple. This price includes all materials, training, lunch and snacks. Special offers for lodging and meals are also available.

Friday - Welcome

Participants arrive on Ile de Re on Friday evening and enjoy an informal welcome and orientation.

Saturday - Massage Theory and Techniques

Class starts after breakfast on Saturday morning at 9:30 am.

Lecture (approx. 1 hour)

Massage Classes and weekend massage workshops in Paris, France and on Ile de Re, FranceThe class begins with a lecture covering the material in the laminated notes I provide for you:

  • Massage theory and applications
  • Discussion of indications and contra-indications for massage
  • Basic orientation of anatomy and physiology
  • Massage at home
  • Movement and body mechanics for massage
  • Essential oils and massage

Demonstration (approx. 1 hour)

Next, I provide a demonstration of basic massage techniques and their applications
for different body parts.

Massage Practice, first group (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes)

The class divides into pairs with half of the class on massage tables, and the others massaging under my direction. (We start on tables so that you can comfortably concentrate on your movements and gestures. Later we move to futons or cushions to simulate home situations.) I circulate between the groups providing one-on-one attention, often joining in the massage.

Lunch (approx. 1 hour)

After the first group gives a massage, it is time for lunch. Some people consider lunch one of the highlights of the day!  I provide simple but delicious lunches that are enjoyable and light.

Massage Practice, second group (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes)

After lunch, the class changes place on the tables. Once again, I talk you through the massage, providing assistance, answering questions, and giving you space to find your own rhythm and feel for your massage.

Discussion and Review (approx. 30 minutes)

Following the second massage, there is a brief discussion and review of the material covered and closure for the day.

After each class day you have time to discover the beauty of Ile de Re. Explore beautiful beaches, bike trails, wetlands, pine forests, vineyards and charming villages, or simply relax in our beautiful surroundings and enjoy the bliss from your day of massage.

Sunday - Massage in the Home Environment

Lecture and Demonstration (approx. 1 hour)

Sunday morning begins with a discussion and demonstration of massage in the home environment.  I will show you how to set up easily and comfortably with materials you probably already have in your own home.

I then provide a demonstration reviewing the techniques from the day before but adapting their execution to the floor.  Special attention is given to movement and body mechanics so that the massage is enjoyable for you as well as the person receiving the work.

Massage Practice, first group (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes)

We then divide into pairs, with half giving and half receiving. You once again have the chance to perfect the various techniques under my guidance.

Lunch (approx. 1 hour)

Massage Practice, second group (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes)

After a break for lunch, the pairs change places for the second massage.

Discussion and Review (approx. 30 minutes)

Following a short break, I will review the material of the day.

Advanced Techniques

Time permitting, I may demonstrate some advanced techniques or discuss other applications of the material covered over the weekend.
